Finger Independance





So, if you've been reading my blog, you will already know how important finger independance is for your technique! You should also have realised, from playing some of the exercises on this site, that the least independant fingers are your third and fourth fingers (if you don't believe me, try this picking exercise). This exercise has been designed to separate your third and fourth fingers and get them working independantly to each other.

Essentially, what I've done is taken the original chromatic picking exercise, and split it over two strings. With your third finger on one string, and your forth on another you force them to act separately (as they instinctively want to move together on the same string).

Trust me, it's much harder than it looks! You can also try reversing the strings, so you have:
