String Bending Part One



In this exercise, we will encounter the technique known as "string bending", which involves moving the string sideways on the fretboard(i.e. up to the sky or down to the ground).



To do this you may need to use extra fingers behind the fretting finger to get more grip. The power comes from the arm in a twisting motion, and the thumb acts as a pivot anchored over the top of the neck.



Here is the first exercise:





To play this exercise, first play the note on the 14th fret with the third finger (which is supported by the second finger to help the bend, then you play the note at the 12th fret with your first finger, at the same time.

Remember: the most important thing here is that you bend the note up to a certain pitch, and dont just bend it up into the sky forever...
